Overview
Two local rail lines - S1 and S8 - connect the airport and the city in 40 minutes. See http://www.munich-airport.de/en/consumer/anab/bahn1/index.jsp for more information. The two lines go in different directions from the city centre, so at downtown stations look out for the signs to the next airport train. Note that, when using Line S1 to get from city to airport, the train divides - not all of it goes to the airport, so check that you are in the right part of the train. To travel between city and airport, you need a ticket for four zones - €11.60 in 2019.
